Festival of the Oaks set for Saturday, Oct. 5

Join the Elon community for a day of fun at the annual Festival of the Oaks on Saturday, Oct. 5. In addition to music, games for kids and arts and crafts, a 5K run will be held at 9 a.m. The Tour of the Oaks Bicycle race will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Because of the large crowds expected, parking and traffic patterns will be altered beginning Friday evening, Oct. 4. These parking lots will be closed beginning at midnight Friday night and reopen at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5:

  • Whitley parking lot
  • Elon Community Church parking lot
  • Parking lots adjacent to closed roads.

The following roads will be closed from 6 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5:

  • Williamson Ave. from Haggard Ave. to Ballpark Ave.
  • Lebanon Ave. from Hook, Brannock and Barney parking lot to Holt Ave.
  • Holt Ave. from Haggard Ave. to Lebanon Ave.
