Board Fundamentals

Instructor: Doug Borwick

Course ID# 6868

Boards of Directors of not-for-profit corporations have an awesome responsibility: giving substance to the mission of the organizations they serve. Yet, for a wide variety of reasons, board membership can be bewildering. Individuals are often asked (and agree) to serve on not-for-profit boards without a clear understanding of the organizational or legal expectations which accompany the position. This workshop will provide members of not-for-profit boards, or staff members, an overview of board responsibilities and roles. Doug Borwick has served as coordinator of the arts and not-for-profit management programs at Salem College since 1985. His email address is: borwick@salem.edu.
