The top six baseball teams in the Colonial Athletic Association will battle for the conference championship at Latham Park.
Anticipation is high for the six teams looking to claim the Colonial Athletic Association baseball conference championship, with the action to play out this week on Elon University’s baseball diamond, Walter C. Latham Park.
The tournament is the fifth and final CAA championship that Elon will host this academic year, with area fans expected to fill the stands to cheer on their Phoenix. Beginning Wednesday, May 25, the conference championship has the Phoenix as the sixth seed in the double-elimination tournament.
Elon’s first game of the tournament is against three-seeded Hofstra at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, while No. 4 William & Mary faces No. 5 Northeastern at noon the same day. On Thursday, an elimination game between the losers of Wednesday’s games will take place at 11 a.m. Top-seed Charleston will play the lowest-seeded winner from Wednesday’s games at 3 p.m. and No. 2 UNC Wilmington will match up with the highest-seeded winner from Wednesday’s games at 7 p.m.
Tournament action continues with three games on Friday and another at 1 p.m. on Saturday, leading up to the CAA championship game at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The tournament fills out a busy championship year at Elon. Rudd Field hosted the women’s soccer tournament in the fall, men’s and women’s tennis championships were held at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this spring, and the CAA softball tournament saw Elon falling just short of the championship in Hunt Softball Park less than two weeks ago.
All-session tickets are $75 for the general public and $40 for students from a participating institution with a valid ID. Single-day tickets are $20 for the general public and $12 for students. For more information, visit the Elon University ticketing website.
All games of the CAA Baseball Championship will be streamed on FloBaseball.tv (FloSports.tv/caa). For more information, visit the CAA Championship Central page at caasports.com/baseball.
