Administrators spend a day in students’ shoes

Nine Elon administrators spent Thursday, Nov. 14 shadowing students on campus, attending classes and student organization meetings, to see life from a student's perspective. Details...

The administrators, including President Leo M. Lambert, Gerry Francis, provost, and Smith Jackson, vice president for student life, spent more than 16 hours with a student. The day began with a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. in Harden Dining Hall.

Throughout the day, administrators attended class, studied in the library, ate lunch on the run, made rounds in residence halls and worked out in the fitness center.

Jackson says he believes the chance to see things through a student’s eyes is important. “As administrators, we make decisions every day that affect students’ lives directly. This gives us a chance to better understand what the students’ lives are like.”
