Alumni receive awards at philanthropy luncheon

Elon alumni received awards and participated in the program at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon, hosted by the Dan River Regional AFP Tuesday, Nov. 12 in Danville, Va.

Barbara Day Bass ’61, a current Elon trustee, was honored as Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Bass volunteers full-time at South Boston/Halifax County Museum.

Darice N. Fichter ’02 was honored as Outstanding Young Philanthropist. Fichter, who is in graduate school at Georgia Tech, was accompanied by her parents, Jackie and Norbert Fichter.

Dr. William Andes ’35 gave the invocation and Alex Vardavas, Jr. ’72, a Danville radio personality, emceed the luncheon.
