Department of Performing Arts presents Winter Musical, ‘The Bridges of Madison County’

Each performance will take place in McCrary Theatre in the Center for the Arts.

The Department of Performing Arts invites the Elon Community to attend its Winter Musical performance of “The Bridges of Madison County,” directed by Erin Farrell Speer, theatre professor at UNC Greensboro, and musical direction by Chris Rayis, assistant professor of performing arts at Elon.

The first performance at McCrary Theatre, the Center for the Arts is on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. There are two other performance on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.

The musical with by by Marsha Norman is based on the best-selling novel from Robert James Waller.

The musical follows Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, as she looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, though, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca’s life.

Free to students/staff/faculty with a Phoenix Card; $15 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased at the CFA Box Office or at the Elon Cultural Programs website.
