Elon Department of Physical Therapy Education faculty members Scales and Vallabhajosula recently published their findings on learning and study strategies of first year physical therapy students in the Journal of Physical Therapy Education (JOPTE).
In this article titled, “Learning and Study Strategies of Students in the First Year of an Entry-Level Physical Therapist Program,” Physical Therapy Education faculty Melissa Scales and Srikant Vallabhajosula investigated learning and study strategies of 221 students in their first year of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program using a reliable tool called “The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory, third edition (LASSI).”
Results of the study identified areas such as anxiety and information processing that changed over time and provides possible insights for DPT programs to intervene to help students learn better.
The JOPTE is the flagship journal for the APTA Academy of Physical Therapy Education and advances the scholarship of physical therapy education.
