With live music, prize drawings and free refreshments, Elon showed its appreciation to its staff, faculty and community with the Summer Concert and Picnic.
Elon faculty, staff and community members gathered in Alumni Gym on Thursday, June 22, for fun and fellowship at the annual Summer Concert and Picnic.
Though the weather forced the event to be moved indoors, those who gathered wouldn’t let rain clouds dampen their spirits. Music from Keenen McKenzie & the Riffers filled Alumni Gym and those in attendance enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream and played games such as connect four and spin-the-wheel.
This year, the concert and picnic coincided with the university’s centennial “Rising from the Ashes: A Century of Innovation” commemoration of the 1923 fire which consumed the main Administration Building on campus. A raffle was held during the concert for attendees to win commemorative swag such as a tote bag, sweatshirt, mug or summer care package.
The concert and picnic, which were sponsored by the Office of the President, were a celebration for the entire community for their unwavering support of the university.
