The associate professor in Elon's Department of Physical Therapy Education was awarded Fellowship at the recently held Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Srikant Vallabhajosula, associate professor of physical therapy education, was recently named a 2023 Fellow by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) at the organization’s annual conference in Denver, Colorado.
Vallabhajosula was recognized at a ceremony that was attended by past, current and future presidents and leadership of the ACSM. He joined Elon in 2012 and his primary area of research is biomechanics of human movement. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in the domains of Sports Medicine and Exercise Science in premier journals like Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of Biomechanics. He regularly presents his work at ACSM and has mentored more than 30 students for presentations at the Annual Meetings of the ACSM.
The ACSM Fellowship is described as an elite member status for long-term professional members who have provided significant service to the ACSM. The ACSM promotes and integrates scientific research, education and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health and quality of life.
According to ACSM, the purpose of the Fellowship is to recognize members who have demonstrated high standards of professional development, significant contributions to their discipline and ACSM, and commitment to the goals and long-range activities of the college.
