Elon professor to conduct chorus at Carnegie Hall

Stephen A. Futrell, associate professor of music, is invited to conduct Gabriel Faure's Requiem with the National Masterworks Chorus.

Stephen A. Futrell, associate professor of music at Elon University, will make his fourth appearance at New York’s Carnegie Hall as performer and conductor in June. The mass chorus of over 150 singers includes Elon students & faculty, singers from Futrell’s chorus, Voices – The Chapel Hill Chorus, as well as several other ensembles.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to conduct at Carnegie and work with these talented singers,” said Futrell.

Futrell will conduct several rehearsals with vocal workshops in preparation for the performance. The chorus will be supported with orchestra, harp and organ. The concert takes place on June 8 at 1:00PM.
