Jason Husser examines impact of assassination attempt on presidential election for Queen City News

Husser, director of the Elon University Poll and professor of political science, spoke with a Queen City News reporter about how the attempt on Donald Trump's life could impact the race.

An attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump as he seeks a second term could have a positive impact on his prospects on Election Day, an Elon expert told Charlotte media outlet Queen City News.

Speaking with reporter Caroline Bowyer, Jason Husser, director of the Elon University Poll and professor of political science, said the images from the assassination attempt could impact how voters see the top two presidential candidates and could shake up an already tumultuous race.

“That Trump was able to get on his feet and seemed so vital when he stood up, raised his fists, creates what will be one of the most iconic photos in American political history,” said Dr. Jason Husser, a political science professor at Elon University. “I think it will be used in stark contrast to President Biden’s photos, which may not show him at that level of vigor.”
