Elon to hold hurricane relief drive Saturday

The university will be collecting relief items at Saturday's home football game in Rhodes Stadium and volleyball match in Schar Center.

The Elon University Department of Athletics will hold a hurricane relief drive Saturday as the Phoenix hosts the University of New Hampshire for football and Campbell for volleyball on campus. All individuals donating an item will receive a free ticket to the game.

Elon will be accepting the following items at both home events Saturday to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

  • Nonperishable food items such as canned or dry goods
  • Household cleaning items such as disinfecting wipes and all-purpose cleaners
  • Bottled water
  • Hygiene kits – shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant
  • Baby supplies
  • Blankets

In order to get a complimentary ticket to the football game, fans must drop off items at the main Rhodes Stadium entrance by the Bell Tower. Look for signs directing drop-off location. For the volleyball match, items can be dropped off at the main entrance at Schar Center.

Elon Athletics is coordinating distribution with both the Burlington Fire Department and local charity organizations to distribute to those in need.
