Harvley-Felder ’05 honored as promising poet

Irene Harvley-Felder ’05 is featured as a North Carolina Poet of the Week on the North Carolina Arts Council’s Web site. Harvley-Felder, who earned a degree in English from Elon, is serving in the Peace Corps as an English teacher in the African nation of Namibia.

Her poetry has appeared in Elon’s literary journal, Colonnades, and her poem “In Celebration of Death” will be published in an upcoming edition of Tar River Poetry. She was a finalist for Fourth Genre’s second-annual Editor’s Prize, as well as the 2005 fiction contest at N.C. State University.
