Winter Term Emerging Futures Forum set for Jan. 22, 23, 27

More than 300 students and 17 faculty members will explore the Winter Term 2009 theme, "Emerging Futures: Foresight for Global Good," in five sessions set for Jan. 22, 23 and 27 at various campus locations. All sessions are open to the campus community.

Rev. William "Bill" Andes '35, who was honored with Elon's Service to Church and Society Award in 2007, died Jan. 26. He was the husband of former Elon staff member Lucile Stone Andes.
Kiplinger’s names Elon one of nation’s top 50 best values in private universities

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine ranks Elon among the nation’s top 50 best values in private higher education and the #1 university in the total costs category. The 2009 ranking is published in the magazine’s February edition, and is the third consecutive top-50 ranking of Elon by Kiplinger’s.
Legendary women’s basketball coach Kay Yow dies after courageous battle with cancer

Kay Yow, Elon's first women's basketball coach who went on to a legendary career coaching N.C. State's team, died Jan. 24 after a decades-long battle with breast cancer. She was 66.
Lindner Hall outfitted with crowning steeple

Lindner Hall, the latest addition to the Elon campus, was topped with a steeple Jan. 15. The 39-foot tower was capped by a copper dome and spire. Lindner Hall in the Academic Village is scheduled for completion this summer and will serve as the new headquarters of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences.
Philip Craft named director of communications for Elon University School of Law

Philip A. Craft has been named director of communications for Elon University School of Law. He joins Elon Law after serving seven years as deputy chief of staff and press secretary for U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (N.Y.) and three years as director of communications and marketing for City Parks Foundation in New York City.
