James B. Piatt Jr. has been named vice president for university advancement at Elon University. Piatt currently serves as vice president for college advancement at Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio. He will succeed Nan P. Perkins, who retires this year after a 32-year career at Elon.

Toddie Peters’ new book to be used by study guide at 18 area churches

A new book co-edited by Rebecca "Toddie" Peters was the subject of a story in the Sept. 6 edition of the Greensboro News & Record. The book, "To Do Justice: A Guide for Progressive Churches," will be used by 18 local churches as a guide for a 13-week study on social justice issues.

Two Elon football players, wide receiver Terrell Hudgins and quarterback Scott Riddle, were among 10 athletes nationwide named as "players to watch" in a USA Today article that previewed the upcoming season on Aug. 22.
