Crista Arangala

The senior mathematics major presented her honors research on using mathematical voronoi models to district school zones in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school (CMS) system.

Elon alumna, Jaime Speiser '10, assistant professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at Wake Forest School of Medicine, provided the keynote address at the May 8 awards ceremony for the Math and Statistics Department. 

The new textbook leads students through inquiry exercises using Matlab and simulations. 

The new book by Professor of Mathematics Crista Arangala and Associate Professor of Mathematics Karen Yokley of Elon along with Associate Professor of Mathematics Nicholas Luke of N.C. A&T State University is aimed at exposing a broad audience, including second- and third-year STEM students, to mathematical modeling. 

The department gathered on May 3 to celebrate the accomplishments of its students. 

Four applied mathematics majors presented their research in July at the at the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Annual Meeting

Crista Arangala's lab textbook entitled Exploring Linear Algebra: Labs and Projects with Mathematica was published by Chapman and Hall/CRC in November.
