Michael Carignan, associate professor of History, has been named the Center for Engaged Learning Senior Scholar for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Phillip Motley, associate professor of communications, was selected as the 2019-21 CEL Scholar to support his exploration of immersive learning as a high-impact practice.

Several Elon Center for Engaged Learning representatives presented at the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) 2018 conference, including scholars from multiple CEL research seminars.

Kupatadze, senior lecturer in Spanish, in collaboration with a colleague from Aarhus University in Denmark, delivered a presentation at ISSoTL in Norway titled “Inclusivity in Academia: Perspectives, Experiences and Roles of International Teaching Faculty”

Three professors will work on projects that explore the relevance of literature in the core curriculum, inclusivity in a high-impact classroom, and objective data to provide feedback to instructors on active learning.

Twenty participants in the Center for Engaged Learning’s seminar on Residential Learning Communities as a High-Impact Practice returned for their second summer meeting on campus, June 17-22. 

The Center for Engaged Learning hosted the first summer meeting of the 2018-2020 research seminar on Capstone Experiences, June 24-29, 2018.
