A grandson of Mahatma Gandhi visits Elon today for a public talk on nonviolent responses to terrorism and how he believes it is more important for a nation to be respected for its moral strength than its military might.

Who makes the decisions that most affect a community? And are decision makers always responsive to the needs of the people they serve? An Elon University professor wants students from six universities to consider those questions in a new course for 2008.

College Coffee doubled as the grand opening of The Colonnades dining hall as university leaders and ARAMARK officials on Nov. 6 thanked staff members who worked for years to design and build the “cutting edge” building.

Elon University students study abroad in much greater number than their counterparts at other colleges, and when it comes to activities outside the classroom, the percentage of students here who take part in co-curricular programs – like student government or club sports – is twice that of the national average. That information and more is contained in the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement, which showed that students at Elon greatly value their experiences here.
