Upcoming Center for Writing Excellence Boot Camps

The workshop hosted by Elon's Psychology Department, Drs. Kim Epting and Erika Lopina, will share strategies they've used to promote the transfer of writing skills/knowledge across multiple classes. Participants will be given time to brainstorm similar strategies for their curriculum.

The interactive workshop, hosted by Elon’s Department of Physics, will teach participants the “Letter Home” method of writing to convey complex ideas to non-expert audiences.

The workshop, led by Paula Rosinski, professor of professional writing & rhetoric and director of Writing Across the University in the Center For Writing Excellence, will be held Nov. 18.

Jessie Moore, director of the Center for Engaged Learning and professor of professional writing and rhetoric, will present on "Teaching for (Writing) Transfer Across the University: Building on What Students Know from First-Year through Graduation"

Professor Ryan Johnson will share an experimental pedagogy he used in his senior seminar class, where students went through the process of writing a professional philosophy article alongside him as he went through the proces of writing a professional philosophy book.

Elon's Summer Writing Institute 2019 will be held Tuesday, May 28 through Thursday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. & Friday, May 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Belk Pavilion 208

Professors Kate Upton and Adam Aiken will discuss integrating writing into their curriculum.  This is especially useful for those who teach in the Business School or who want to learn more about writing across the curriculum.

The winners will be recognized during a reception in the Center for Writing Excellence in Belk Library on April 11 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
