On April 21, leading women judges from the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and District Court of North Carolina spoke with Elon Law students about the value of diversity in the community of judges representing North Carolina's judicial branch of government.

In an interview with Charlotte-based WFAE radio on April 8, Elon Law professor and associate dean for academic affairs Catherine Dunham discussed the City of Charlotte’s request to play a larger role in the dispute between North Carolina and South Carolina regarding the use of water from the Catawba River, a dispute being overseen by a Special Master appointed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

As the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments regarding a California police officer who claims a police department violated his employee privacy rights by reading text messages he sent, many of which were sexually explicit, on his company-owned pager, Elon Law professor Scott Gaylord told WGHP Fox 8 News the ruling could affect millions of people in the United States who also use company-issued phones and computers.

Elon University School of Law celebrated the contributions of Jeffrey Kinsler, a founding member of the Elon Law faculty, for his contributions to the law school's progress since 2006. Kinsler recently accepted the position of Dean for the new College of Law at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Elon University School of Law is pleased to host an Admitted Student Day on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 11. All applicants who have been admitted to the law school are welcome and encouraged to attend. A light continental breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m.

Elon Law professor Henry Gabriel recently presented on the new Geneva Convention on Intermediated Securities at the annual meeting of the American Society of International Law in Washington D.C.

Heather Bock, Howrey LLP's award-winning Chief Professional Development Officer, described significant changes in how law firms are training new associates and explored Elon Law's leadership program over a two-day visit to the law school, February 15 and 16.

Through an intensive "Lawyering, Leadership and Professionalism" course in January, first-year Elon Law students gathered insights from lawyers across North Carolina about their concepts of leadership in the law and their strategies for success in the profession.
