Elon Law establishes Juvenile Justice Clinic

Elon University School of Law has established the Juvenile Justice Intervention and Mediation Clinic, allowing law students, under the supervision of law faculty and attorneys, to provide mediation services for victims and offenders in juvenile crime cases as an alternative to criminal prosecution.

David Gergen, adviser to four United States presidents, Director of the Center for Public Leadership and Professor of Public Service at the Harvard Kennedy School, one of the country's preeminent political commentators, and chair of Elon University's Law School Advisory Board, described Elon Law's founding principles of engaged learning, service, and leadership, and underscored their importance to the legal profession and to the nation's well-being, in the inaugural commencement address before the charter class of the law school on May 24.

Elon Law faculty at the forefront of judicial selection debate

Through three articles published in the News and Record of Greensboro on October 25, Elon Law professors Scott Gaylord, Andrew Haile, and Alan Woodlief explore the merit of reforming North Carolina's system of selecting judges. A public debate on the subject will be held at Elon Law on October 29.

Elon Law alumni celebrate Homecoming 2009

Members of Elon Law's Class of 2009 celebrated homecoming on October 23. Many graduates participated in a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course about legal leadership during times of complexity and change, and over forty graduates met for a social hour in downtown Greensboro.
