Steven Friedland develops experiential learning in the law school classroom

Professor of Law Steven Friedland is on a mission to boost experiential learning in law school classrooms through hands-on techniques like simulations, role-playing, small group problem solving and interactive workshops. His teaching “team” includes fingerprint experts, K-9 police officers and their dogs, prosecutors, defense attorneys and Elon Law graduates.
Enrique Armijo advances international freedom of expression

Assistant Professor of Law Enrique Armijo has taken on an advocacy role at an international level through his freedom of expression work in Rwanda, Jordan, Yemen and other countries throughout the Middle East and South America. His most recent work is in Myanmar (Burma), which is in the midst of democratic reforms after 50 years of oppressive military rule.
Elon establishes JD/MBA program

Elon University School of Law and the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University have established a four-year JD/MBA program. The JD/MBA program gives students the opportunity to earn both their juris doctor and master of business administration degrees in less time, and at a lower cost, than if both degrees were pursued separately.

Rick Berry is the Senior Vice President and Director of Case Administration for the Financial Industries Regulation Authority (FINRA). FINRA protects investors by writing and enforcing rules and regulations that govern the activities of brokerage firms and brokers. FINRA also administers the largest forum specifically designed to resolve disputes between and among investors, securities firms, and individual brokers.

2013 Intramural Moot Court champions announced

Hayley Sherman and John Boschini won the final round of the Sixth Annual Elon Law Intramural Moot Court Competition held on September 30. Genna Petre and Bree Shadrick were the first-runner up team. Shadrick was also named “Best Oralist from the Final Round,” and Michael Costolo was named “Best Oralist from the Preliminary Rounds.” The team of Katie Lester and Mark Henkle took “Best Brief” honors.

Tom Molony’s scholarship on fraud and securities transactions published in Santa Clara Law Review

In a recently published article, Elon Law Professor Tom Molony identifies ambiguities in federal law and judicial frameworks that have attempted to define when fraudulent activity is connected to securities transactions. Molony’s article also poses solutions to the lack of clarity in this area of law.
