Elon Department of Physical Therapy Education faculty members Scales and Vallabhajosula recently published their findings on learning and study strategies of first year physical therapy students in the Journal of Physical Therapy Education (JOPTE).

The Department of Physical Therapy Education (DPTE) had another strong showing at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting by its third-year DPT students, sports-PT resident, alumni and faculty members.

The Department of Physical Therapy Education kicked off the graduation celebration for its Doctor of Physical Therapy students in their final year with a Graduation Celebration and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Vallabhajosula, an associate professor of physical therapy education, and his final-year DPT students, Sarah Henderson and Brandi Wiltshire, and his URP research mentee Katey Alberto did three virtual platform presentations at the 9th World Congress of Biomechanics conference in July.

Elon's Doctor of Physical Therapy program was represented strongly at the Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in San Diego, CA. Brendal Vargo, a second-year DPT student, also won a research award at the Conference.

Elon’s Biomechanics Lab and its personnel led a virtual event to introduce middle and high school students on the other side of the globe to the field of biomechanics as part of its multi-event National Biomechanics Day celebrations.

The Department of Physical Therapy Education was well-represented at the national conference by its third-year DPT students, alumni and faculty members.

Second-year DPT students Sarah Henderson and Brandi Wiltshire won the American College of Sports Medicine Biomechanics Interest Group Student Research Award.

Elon faculty and students from Departments of Physical Therapy Education, Exercise Science and Performing Arts partnered with educational institutions in India to virtually conduct the first National Biomechanics Day event in India.

In a research study that was done completely virtually and funded by the Parkinson’s Foundation, Department of Performing Arts in collaboration with Department of Physical Therapy Education successfully offered classes based on the Mark Morris Dance for Parkinson’s Disease program virtually to five individuals.
