Elon University, a Campus Consortium partner of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, hosted an Oct. 24 community lecture featuring Academy Award-winning multimedia journalist Emily Kassie.

The chair of the Communications Department presented a paper on using design thinking as a curriculum strategy to build study abroad courses that are well-thought-out and flexible to build students’ global confidences and encourage creative thinking. 

Faculty members in the United Kingdom will teach courses and conducting research through the U.S.-U.K. exchange program. 

Allegra Laing, assistant director of diversity and inclusion in study abroad, was nominated unanimously as chair for NAFSA Region VII for 2020.

Study abroad and risk management practitioners took on a fictional international crisis during an exercise at Elon to learn from experts and to consider their emergency preparedness.

“The Best 384 Colleges” guide ranks Elon University as the #2 “best-run” college in the country.

The presentation highlighted the spring 2018 course that was designed to explore culture not only at the national level, but also at the team and individual person levels.
