Amy Allocco has received a Collaborative International Research Grant from the American Academy of Religion to support joint fieldwork in India, a symposium, and a special journal issue with a colleague from the University of Helsinki.

Pamela Winfield, associate professor of religious studies, presented her research at the Comité Internationale de l’Histoire de l’Art in collaboration with the Max-Planck-Institut's Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz.

Allocco’s invited talk at the University of Helsinki is the last of five she has presented about her current project, "Domesticating the Dead: Invitation and Installation Rites in Tamil South India," this academic year.

The article by the associate professor of religious studies examines the iconographic innovations and textual claims of a modern Japanese Esoteric Buddhist group called Shinnyo-en.
