Kindle readers now available at Belk Library

Belk Library now has six Amazon Kindle e-book readers to loan to Elon students, faculty and staff. The Belk Kindles have pre-loaded titles, including 25 of the most popular Kindle books currently on sale at Amazon. Additional titles will be added at least once more during the academic year.
Lumen Scholar studies church reactions to slavery

Churches have always split on doctrinal or political grounds, and prior to the Civil War, that wedge issue, more often than not, was slavery. Elon University senior Amber Woods explored how early churches in Kentucky responded to debates over emancipation, and her undergraduate research is the latest to be featured in a series of E-net profiles on Lumen Scholars in the Class of 2011.

Navigating the world of special education can be daunting, especially for parents with no experience having their child tested for a learning disability. Elon University associate professor Linda Wilmshurst recognized that fear, and this fall, the second edition of a book she co-authored five years ago is being released with more resources and updated information on trends that all parents and teachers should have.

Two bells with historic ties to Elon University, including one that survived a fire that threatened the future of the school in its early years, were put on display Thursday at two different locations on campus.
