A section of East Haggard Avenue that runs through campus will be closed from 1 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

Traffic on North Williamson Avenue is expected to be the heaviest from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.

Faculty and staff attended two presentations by retired North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Eric Tellefsen about preparing for an active shooter situation.

Elon Community Service Officer Kenneth Herron died at his home in Elon on July 29 after a long battle with cancer. He began as a part-time member of the Elon Campus Safety and Police staff in 2000 and moved to full-time work in 2015.

The training at Alamance Community College gave law enforcement officers and emergency response teams from across Alamance County the opportunity to get hands-on experience during live active shooter scenarios.

The northbound lane will be closed from Phoenix Drive to University Drive beginning June 27.

The stretch of East Haggard Avenue that runs through Elon's campus will close at 7 p.m. on May 23 and reopen at 9 p.m. on May 24.

The closure is necessary for the repaving of the North O'Kelly Avenue intersection. 

The former police chief has decided to rejoin the university and continue his career as a member of the Elon community.

 

The test of the outdoor alarm and emergency alert systems by Elon Campus Safety and Police will take place at 10 a.m. and will last about three minutes.
