Class of 2020 Stories

Nicole Plante '20, with the guidance of her mentor, Assistant Professor of Geography Sandy Marshall, is examining how refugee families create belonging in the United States.

The award came from the N.C. National Alliance for Mental Illness and is given to a person under the age of 25 who has made a significant impact on young people with mental illness in the community.

Inspired by her experience studying in Australia, Destiny Frett ‘20 launched Food Companion to the Apple app store in August.

Garner spend two months during the past summer conducting field research that included interviewing more than 20 women about their memories of political violence. 

Senior Anton Delgado and Elon graduate Alex Simon ’17, an Arizona State master’s student, joined 35 student journalists from across the country to examine how the federal government has responded to natural disasters ranging from hurricanes to wildfires.

The double major in policy studies and sociology serves as the president of Elon Mock Trial, a mentor to local high school students and an avid researcher.
