The broadcasting careers of three Elon alumni, Jasmine Spencer '11, Crystal Moyer '11 and Eugene Daniel '11, are off to fast starts in local news for communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Illinois.

I walk up a set of rickety metal steps on the side of an 18-wheeler and cautiously open a steel door. I am faced with a scene that would make Ray Bradbury shudder: a tiny room jammed with flat-screen monitors playing to a dozen people behind computers wearing futuristic glasses, shouting things like “Go for gold” and “the Flag is down.” But this is not a scene from a foreboding science fiction novel. It’s my life.

Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications, formally received the national Administrator of the Year award at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication conference on Aug. 10 in St. Louis.

On Aug. 1 the School of Communications welcomed 40 students to the master’s program in Interactive Media. The enrolling students compose the largest class in the program’s three-year history.

Julie Lellis, an assistant professor in the School of Communications, will serve as a founding editorial board member of Case Studies in Strategic Communication, an online peer-reviewed publication that will publish manuscripts that explain strategic communication strategies through the investigation of case studies.
