All films begin on the page. Someone, typically the screenwriter, has to put pen to paper and give words and movements and motivations to characters. In the nine-week Elon in Los Angeles summer program, it’s no different.

Last year, the three faculty and 18 students who were part of the renewed Elon in New York City program considered the nine-week summer internship experience a resounding success. That's why, coming into this summer, the returning instructors decided to leave the program mostly untouched.

Regularly pulling together 39 students spread across three classes in Los Angeles can sometimes be a logistical impossibility. For nine weeks during the summer, the students in the Elon in LA program have to focus on their internships, class projects and other responsibilities. In essence, they build their own lives out west, if only a couple of months.
