Commencement 2016 concluded with the traditional charge by President Leo M. Lambert to the graduates. 

Elon's graduates dodged the threat of rain and graduated in a glorious morning ceremony held at the center of campus on the main quad stretching from Alamance Building to Moseley Center.

In a passionate graduation address, the North Carolina native expressed deep concerns about the future of his home state.

DonnaLee DeMaio, president and CEO of United Guaranty, delivered the keynote address to the 41 students in the Love School of Business who received master’s degrees in business administration and management on May 20.

The one-hour school receptions allowed students to introduce parents to faculty mentors, laugh with friends and celebrate personal transformation.

Rain is still in the forecast for Saturday, May 21, so the continental breakfast provided for graduates, their families and guests prior to the Commencement ceremony will be held in Moseley Center, the Great Hall in Global Commons and in the Center for the Arts.

The former chief justice of the N.C. Supreme Court received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree before giving the Baccalaureate address on Friday, May 20.

Fifty-nine percent of Elon students in the Class of 2016 made a gift to Elon as part of the senior class giving campaign, raising more than $20,990 for areas of campus most important to them.
