Issues in Political Economy, an undergraduate research journal co-published by Elon University, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, where several students have used the annual publication as a springboard to graduate studies in some of the nation’s premiere economic programs.

Seniors Erika Lamanna and Garrett Pittenger represented Elon this fall in the university’s first ever appearance at the Eller Ethics Case Competition, a prestigious national contest in which the duo advanced to the semifinals before their elimination from the sixth annual event.

The financial crisis that placed Wall Street on a daily roller coaster has several causes, and on Oct. 15, four economic panelists offered their thoughts about recent market turmoil to a room of students, faculty and staff from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.

When it comes to fruits and vegetables, about the only place you can find anything fresher than the produce at a local farmers market is in your own garden. But markets offer another benefit – informal associations with others in a community – that Elon economics professor Thomas Tiemann examines in the latest issue of The Journal of Popular Culture.
