Elon’s long-serving senior vice president for business, finance and technology has received NACUBO’s 2018 Distinguished Business Officer Award, the group’s highest honor.

The promotions and appointments come as Elon University begins a new fiscal year. 

Shea will fill the newly created position at Elon and oversee major operational units of the university under the direction of Senior Vice President Gerald Whittington.

These faculty scholars will be provided with relevant sustainability resources and pedagogies through a variety of unique opportunities such as speakers, workshops, field trips, and article or book discussions.

Ryan will oversee three administrative operations at Elon University.

Greenhouse gas emissions per square foot of building space have decreased since 2008 while overall emissions have risen.

Representatives from across campus spoke Sept. 22, 2015, about the physical, economic and educational benefits of solar power, as well as Elon’s recent efforts to harvest solar energy.

Professor Kevin O’Mara, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, received a one year grant for $24,000 from The Coleman Foundation for the Faculty Entrepreneurship Fellows Program.

The plan, first created in 2007 and updated this spring with input from campus stakeholders, has 38 objectives across four categories: operations, planning and administration, engagement and academics.
