French Studies

Kirstin Ringelberg, professor of art history, presented a paper Oct. 29, 2016, at the 19th century French Studies Conference hosted by Brown University. 

More than 70 students, faculty and staff examined the style, subjects and history of political cartoons from around the world.

The theme of this year's conference was empowerment, transformation and social justice. 

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Elon hosted students, faculty and staff from Elon and regional universities at its first Undergraduate Conference on Languages and Cultures.

Language assessment exams in French, German, Italian, Latin and Spanish will be offered for NEW STUDENTS ONLY on Sept. 29 and 30 according to the following schedule. The grant will help support the inaugural Tournées Film Festival at Elon.

Celebrate National French Week with the Department of World Languages and Cultures with different activities and events every day.

The four-year program now includes partnerships with schools in Spain and Italy.

Elon's French program has been recognized by the American Association of Teachers of French, the national organization of French teachers, as an Exemplary Post-Secondary Program with Honors.

On Wednesday, April 6, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., Dr. Van Bodegraven, Associate Chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures, will be available in the Carlton Commons to answer student and faculty questions about language classes, language majors and minors, regional studies programs and global engagement opportunities.
