Global Neighborhood

Each Elon residential neighborhood is hosting a Halloween or Fall themed event this month.

The Department of World Languages and Cultures, in collaboration with Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society and Global Neighborhood, hosted Lula Carballo, a Canadian author whose family migrated to Canada from Uruguay, and Émilie Guerette, a Canadian documentary filmmaker.

Karunatilaka’s “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida” won the 2022 Booker Prize. He discussed his works with Assistant Professor of English Dinidu Karunanayake in Turner Theatre.

Karunatilaka will converse with Assistant Professor of English Dinidu Karunanayake in Turner Theatre on Monday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 p.m. The Sri Lankan author’s “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida” won the 2022 Booker Prize.

This year’s theme, “The Many Faces of Elon: On Campus & Beyond,” reflects the university’s commitment to broadening students' perspectives and enhancing global awareness through local, national, and international lenses.

Student employees and staff were honored for their leadership, teamwork and creativity on May 3.

The Global Neighborhood Spring Festival will be held Friday, April 21, 4 to 6 p.m. At the Faculty Forward booth, all faculty and students are invited to celebrate and honor part-time, and contingent professors.

The Global Neighborhood continued its Global Film Series with a screening of a film called "Flee," an animated documentary telling the true story about Amin, an Afghan migrant in Denmark, who must confront his past to truly have a future.

The senior residence life administrator from Pitzer College began her new role at Elon on July 15.

The Elon World Percussion Ensemble to perform recorded tracks at the Oak House.
