Global Learning Opportunities

Over 50 poster presentations were held inside Upstairs Lakeside during the 2023 School of Health Sciences Research Forum.

Students from the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Nursing programs shared their research during the annual forum at McKinnon Hall inside Moseley Center on Tuesday.

Vallabhajosula, an associate professor of physical therapy education, and his final-year DPT students, Sarah Henderson and Brandi Wiltshire, and his URP research mentee Katey Alberto did three virtual platform presentations at the 9th World Congress of Biomechanics conference in July.

Bournemouth-Elon (BE) Buddies connects physical therapy students from both programs in a Zoom environment where students share their own culture and learn cultural aspects of an international student, as well as a different health care system, in a facilitated exchange.

Students from the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Nursing programs, along with undergraduate engineering students, shared their research during the forum at McKinnon Hall inside Moseley Center.

Leaders from both institutions on Friday, Aug. 13, signed a memorandum of understanding that will pave the way for students and faculty exchange programs and research collaborations.

Paula DiBiasio, associate professor in physical therapy and GLO program coordinator, and Danielle Lake, director of design thinking and associate professor, are partnering with Doctor of Physical Therapy program students and Global Learning Opportunities (GLO) program alumni to co-design the future of GLO. DiBiasio envisions a more flexible program that positively impacts healthcare disparities by promoting students’ development of skills related to engaging with difference sensitively and equitably.
