Periclean Scholars visit India for service learning

Eleven Elon University students in the Class of 2012 Periclean Scholars program joined two faculty mentors in Jamkhed, India, this week through a trip made possible by the Carole and Douglas Bruns Endowment for International Service Learning.

Prudence Layne named visiting fellow at Bader International Studies Institute

Prudence Layne, an assistant professor of English and coordinator of African/African-American Studies at Elon University, has been named one of four Visiting Fellows this summer at the Bader International Studies Institute at Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex, England, to teach a postcolonial Shakespeare class with field studies components.

Professor’s service trip to Haiti spurs ideas for Elon

While there, the assistant professor of English saw not only the damage from a powerful January earthquake, but what she says are opportunities for Elon University to help in the nation’s reconstruction.

Visiting Fulbright scholar joins School of Education

Kamol Jiyankhodjaev will be joining the faculty of the School of Education at Elon University this month as a visiting Fulbright scholar from Uzbekistan. His Fulbright award is a joint appointment with Teacher’s College of Columbia University and the School of Education at Elon University.

Heidi White, associate director of study abroad, presented twice at the recent Forum on Education Abroad conference in Charlotte, N.C. The sessions she co-presented included "Establishing an Institutional Vision for Education Abroad Programs… and Possible Prescriptions for Maintaining Focus" and "Bringing Study Abroad Home: Creative Approaches to Integrating the Study Abroad Experience back into the Campus Community."
