Woody Pelton named next Dean of International Programs

Lee Heywood (Woody) Pelton has been named the next Dean of International Programs and Director of the Isabella Cannon Centre at Elon University. Pelton, who begins his duties at the end of May, comes from Winthrop University in South Carolina where he has directed The International Center for the past two years.

From a panel discussion on international human rights law to a research presentation on freedom of press in Sri Lanka, the inaugural Study Abroad Forum held in the Moseley Center on Tuesday evening allowed students and faculty who have traveled overseas to celebrate their academic achievements.

Study Abroad Forum on Nov. 11 open to community

The inaugural Study Abroad Forum on Nov. 11 will celebrate academic achievements of students, alumni, faculty and staff, resulting from study abroad in a variety of contexts including winter term, semester programs, international service learning and internships. The campus community is invited to attend from 4:15-7:15 p.m. in the Moseley Center.

Deadline nears for applications to study in Italy this spring

Less than a week remains for students to apply to a spring 2009 program in Florence, home of Elon University's newest international "centre" and birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to participate through the Isabella Cannon Centre for International Studies. The deadline is Sept. 22.
