The virtual event presented by the School of Communications featured several of the top communications programs in the country.

The Elon University junior and executive director of Elon News Network has joined student journalists from across the country to participate in a national reporting project focused on policing and justice.

As part of Associate Professor David Bockino’s Through the Lens of ESPN class, 13 students traveled to Spain to tour four soccer stadiums – all legendary and impressive in their own way – while also participating in marketing meetings with three of the country’s top clubs.

Established in 2018 in recognition of Paul Parsons' 17 years of service as founding dean of the School of Communications, the scholarship is awarded to rising seniors with a strong academic record.

The student media members participated in small, community-focused sessions about mental health and diversity, equity and inclusion in the newsroom.

During a mid-November visit, the award-winning foreign correspondent met with classes, student media and the campus community to share her reporting experiences in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

The Elon junior will serve alongside five other members, including Assistant Professor Israel Balderas, who is the newly appointed chair of the Legal Defense Fund.

In the most recent edition of the Elon Journal, student researchers conducted an expansive look at storytelling, as well as how the ongoing pandemic has impacted media producers and consumers.

The Elon alumnus, who was recently nominated for a pair of Emmys, shines a light on stories both on and off the court for one of the world’s best-known sports teams.

To address the ever-increasing popularity of commercial and recreational drone use, as well as examine related safety rules and regulations, the School of Communications hosted the inaugural Elon Drone Day, attracting nearly 110 attendees to campus on Nov. 8.
