Elon Law and synerG co-host Local Government Education Series

In partnership with Elon Law, synerG - the young professionals initiative of Action Greensboro - hosted a series of educational events in October to engage young professionals with Greensboro's local government. The three-week series explored regional economic development and the structure of local government, followed by a City Council Candidates Forum presented with The Greensboro Partnership.
Elon Law Review hosts symposium on criminal law enforcement post-9/11

Marking the ten-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, the 27-member editorial board of the Elon Law Review welcomed law scholars and criminal law enforcement experts from across the country on Oct. 21 to participate in a symposium titled, "Terrorism's Impact on Criminal Justice: How the Detection, Investigation, and Prosecution of Criminal Activity Has Changed Since 9/11."
Student groups host Action Panel on Marriage Equality

Student organizations at Elon Law hosted an Oct. 11 panel discussion on marriage equality prompted by the North Carolina General Assembly's recent decision to allow a same-sex marriage ban amendment to go before voters in the May 2012 elections.

Health Law Panel provides information to students hoping to pursue careers in healthcare law

Being a healthcare attorney requires a unique dedication to the field, panelists said during the Health Law Panel at Elon Law on Oct. 26. The panel, co-hosted by Elon University School of Law's Office of Career Services and Elon's chapter of the Society for Health Law and Bioethics, provided career advice and answered students' questions about healthcare-related legal jobs.

Elon law students launch Journal of Leadership and the Law

The first edition of the online Journal of Leadership and the Law was published as a special section of the Elon University School of Law website on October 21. The publication includes articles by lawyers and scholars of law, as well as interviews with attorneys in leadership positions, exploring various dimensions of leadership in the legal profession.
Health Law Panel – Oct. 26

The Elon Law student organization Society for Health Law & Bioethics will co-sponsor with the Office of Career Services a panel presentation focusing on careers in Healthcare Law. Panelists will share their career paths, describe their current positions and provide advice on anyone seeking a career in this practice area. At a later date another panel will address Healthcare Reform, but we have asked each panelist to devote a brief portion of their presentation to how Healthcare Reform has impacted their practice/clients.
