Admissions Open House at Elon Law – Oct. 29

Acclaimed writer and attorney Scott Turow will deliver the Elon University School of Law fall 2010 Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture on Wednesday evening, Oct. 13. Turow's books have been translated into more than 25 languages, sold more than 25 million copies world-wide and have been adapted into a feature-length film and two television miniseries.

Committee of N.C. Superior Court judges meets at Elon Law to draft Pattern Jury Instructions

The North Carolina Conference of Superior Court Judges Committee on Pattern Jury Instructions held their monthly meeting at Elon University School of Law on October 1-2. The pattern jury instructions are used regularly in civil and criminal cases in the state's trial courts. Judges read the instructions to juries to help them understand the law and their duties in deciding the case before them.

Elon Law hosts conference on academic support and effective counseling at law schools

Elon University School of Law hosted Bridging Troubled Waters: Counseling Fundamentals for Academic Support Professionals, June 21-22, sponsored by the Law School Admissions Council. It was the first counseling skills training course to be offered in the 17 years of annual meetings following the inaugural conference that marked the establishment of the academic support field within legal education nationally.

Alexis Martinez named assistant dean for student affairs at Elon Law, Lisa Watson joins as reference and government documents librarian

Alexis Martinez has been named assistant dean for student affairs at Elon University School of Law. She earned degrees in higher education administration and law from the University of Miami. Meanwhile, Lisa Watson joins the Elon Law library with degrees in law and library science from the University of Kentucky School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
