Elon Law professors Andrew Haile and Thomas Molony analyzed two recent rulings of the North Carolina Court of Appeals and one from the North Carolina Business Court as they continued their "Business Law Developments" series in the June, 2009 edition of Notes Bearing Interest, a quarterly publication of the N.C. Bar Association.

On July 3, Catherine Wasson, Associate Professor at Elon University School of Law, gave a presentation on assessment techniques for legal writing courses at a law conference in Pretoria, South Africa.

Through op-ed columns and television news appearances, Elon Law professors Scott Gaylord, Andrew Haile, and Alan Woodlief recently provided analysis and evaluation of North Carolina's system for judicial elections, in response to a June 8 United States Supreme Court ruling in Caperton v. Massey Coal Co.

On June 27, the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) honored Elon Law's F. Leary Davis with the Judge John J. Parker Award, the association's highest honor.

Mike Sprague, a rising second year law student at Elon University School of Law, was recognized on June 22 for his successful work on behalf of a client at Legal Aid of North Carolina's Greensboro office.

Jennifer Ruby, member of the class of 2010 at Elon Law, was awarded the Wake County Bar Association (WCBA) Memorial Scholarship on June 9, with an award amount of $4,000.

In a May 29 column published in the Triad, Triangle and Charlotte editions of The Business Journal, Elon University School of Law professor Andrew Haile examines a recent decision of the North Carolina Court of Appeals that "introduced further uncertainty into North Carolina's already complicated corporate tax system."
