Elon University School of Law presented Leslie J. Winner, executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, with the Law School’s highest professional honor, the Leadership in the Law Award, recognizing Winner’s significant contributions to law, the legal profession and society. Elon Law Dean Luke Bierman presented the award in Charlotte, N.C. at a luncheon forum attended by lawyer-leaders from across North Carolina.

Elon Law welcomed 13 new Leadership Fellows and recognized the professional accomplishments of 14 returning fellows at a Sept. 2 evening reception.

Speaking Sept. 1 with first-year law students, three former Chief Justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court, all founding Elon Law advisory board members, shared insights on judicial process, professionalism and leadership. 

Elon Law’s Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series presented by The Joseph M. Bryan Foundation will feature two-term Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm, New York Times Supreme Court correspondent Adam Liptak and ESPN broadcaster and attorney Jay Bilas. 

Speakers at Elon Law’s seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. forum encouraged lawyers and law students to stand tall in their actions to address civil and political rights both in law school and in their legal careers.

Law students working on legal recommendations to transform how condemned and vacant homes are revitalized were featured Jan. 6 on WGHP Fox 8 News.

The third edition of the online Journal of Leadership and the Law, published October 1, highlights a recent publication of John Alexander, former President of the Center for Creative Leadership and Distinguished Leadership Coach In Residence at Elon Law.

Elon is one of five law schools profiled for “getting serious about business skills” in the National Law Journal’s September 23 special report on law schools. 

At a September 18 luncheon in Raleigh, N.C., hosted by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly and Elon University School of Law, law school dean George R. Johnson, Jr. presented The Hon. Charles L. Becton with Elon Law’s 2013 Leadership in the Law Award.
