Adam Kehl, director of bands and assistant professor of music, presented a session on developing conducting gestures for high school and middle band educators.  

Al Thomas ’81 has had a love affair with the piano that has continued over the decades.  

A longtime member of Elon’s music faculty, Malvin Newton Artley taught music to hundreds of young students in the community and was instrumental in developing the university’s string instruction program.

This young five-member a cappella group approaches old traditions in a fresh way. They combine enthusiasm, humor and drama with genuine vocal clarity to enrapture both young and old. Their repertoire covers more than five centuries of musical joy, and the ensemble is already known for unique programs from Medieval Icelandic drinking songs to nostalgic hits. Admission: $13 or Elon ID.

The project, now on display, is from a Winter Term class that examined the music of the two decades, fromThe Beatles to the Bee Gees, and hippies to Nixon. 

Auditions will be held in the Center for the Arts, Room 164. 

The #8 ranking for the program comes from College Magazine, which surveyed music recording technology and audio design programs around the country.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 16 in Yeager Recital Hall.
