The Elon University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of associate professor Jon Metzger, completed this month a performance tour of The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. The 18-piece jazz ensemble played at international festivals and schools, gave jazz improvisation workshops, and showed their versatility by also performing two classical music chamber concerts.

Associate professor Stephen A. Futrell, director of choral activities at Elon University, presented at the Arizona chapter of the American Choral Directors Association State Conference (Four Corners Choral Workshop) held June 17-19 in Flagstaff, Ariz., at Northern Arizona University.

Thomas Erdmann, a professor of music, had three 6,000-word articles published and featured on the front cover of the July/August 2010 issue of Saxophone Journal.

Rising senior music technology major Jacob Danieley has been accepted into the Nashville Songwriters Association International Song Camp.

Assistant Professor Omri Shimron (music) and Adjunct Instructor Virginia Novine-Whittaker performed a recital on Saturday, May 1, as part of a local fundraising campaign supporting the Greensboro chamber music series Music for a Great Space.

The Elon University Phoenix Piano Trio (Dan Skidmore, violin, Meaghan Skogen, Cello, and Victoria Fischer Faw, piano) presented a benefit concerton April 24 for the Highland Camerata in Independence, Va.
