The Elon Black Alumni Network presented awards Nov. 3 to five members of the Elon community as part of its Homecoming festivities

The generous gift from Elon Trustee Louis DeJoy and his wife, Dr. Aldona Wos, of Greensboro, North Carolina, will assist students with exceptional ability and high financial need from Title I schools in Guilford County.

A member of the Class of 2018 will be able to share this special day with her parents, neither of whom have been out of their home country before. 

Students experienced professional development advice and networking opportunities with alumni

Inspired by Elon's commitment to scholarship funding, retired faculty member Nancy Midgette, of Montreat, North Carolina, decided to support students in the Odyssey Program with her gift.

The Sam and Vicky Hunt Scholarship will assist two students each year in the Odyssey Program, a highly selective program for students with exceptional ability and promise and significant financial need.
