Seven Elon University faculty members were honored with endowed professorships during the Opening Day ceremony on Monday, Aug. 19. Each faculty member was recognized for their passion in their field, commitment to students and service to the university.

Elon President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to three longtime leaders at the university in academics, athletics and community engagement during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized three named professorships during the event.

Eight programs launched in fall 2023 involved participants from across the university community in initiatives designed to foster meaningful relationships at the university.

The assistant professor of management will lead AI integration across campus using six core principles Elon University helped establish last year to guide higher education’s role in the artificial intelligence revolution.

The professor of political science and policy studies and longtime director of the Elon University Poll will provide leadership at Elon in growing academic undergraduate programs, exploring new directions for academic programs, and supporting academic integrity.

Kenneth Brown and colleagues led a conference session on first-generation graduate student success at the inaugural Gardner Institute Graduate Student Experience conference that is helping to shape higher education’s approach to graduate student education. 

Bunnell comes to Elon from Amherst College, where she has been the associate director and STEM specialist in the Center for Teaching and Learning since 2019.

The Office of Student Conduct will host various events to increase student awareness and familiarity with their office and the Code of Conduct.
