Campus Conservancy Endowment, which funds future maintenance of
facilities and ensures that Elon remains one of the most beautiful

Elon names new assistant dean of students

After an extensive national search, campus leaders have announced that
Jodean Schmiederer will join Elon University as its new assistant dean
of students, with overall responsibility for the Moseley Campus Center,
Greek Life, Student Judicial Affairs, Student Activities, Summer
Conferences, and Family Weekend.
Elon wins SoCon baseball title

The Elon Phoenix will enter the upcoming 2008 Southern Conference Baseball Championship as the number one seed
after winning the regular season title outright with a 19-8 SoCon mark.
The Phoenix finished one game ahead of College of Charleston (18-9)
whose loss on the last day of the regular season gave Elon the title
outright. It is the second SoCon title for Elon in three seasons.

Sophomore All-American football wide receiver Terrell Hudgins and
senior All-Southern Conference women’s basketball point guard Tierra
Bumbrey came away with Stein H. Basnight Outstanding Athlete Award
honors at the 34th Annual Elon University Athletics Awards Banquet on
May 13.

Elon parents Howard C. and Judy Pickett make gift to enhance leadership program

Elon parents Howard C. and Judy Pickett of Cary, N.C., have made a
$110,000 endowment gift to enhance the university’s Isabella Cannon
Leadership Fellows program. The couple made the gift because of the
transformative experience that their daughter, Hilaire, a senior, has
had as a Leadership Fellow at Elon.
