The Faculty Research and Development Committee allocates funds for: 1) Sabbaticals, 2) Summer Fellowships, 3) Release Time Fellowships, 4) Research, Development and Advanced Study, and 5) Hultquist Awards for new faculty. Attend this session to learn about these options, the online application process, and eligibility. Members of the FR&D Committee will be present to answer your questions.
Intended Audience: Program designed for full-time faculty members.
College Coffee

Elon’s weekly tradition of community gathering begins with this year’s first College Coffee. In the spirit of being a part of a collegial community the Employee Resource Groups will be present to introduce themselves and answer questions about their missions and resources, so please stop by and introduce yourself! College Coffee continues throughout the school year on Tuesday mornings from 9:40 to to 10:10 a.m. Show your support for sustainability and bring your own cup.

Advising Student Organizations

This meeting is for ANY student organization advisor, new or returning. Discussion will center on updated Elon policies and procedures for student organizations and how you can help your leaders traverse the system. Additional information will be provided on how to be an effective advisor and student motivator, how to naviagate PhoenixCONNECT, and on services for your student organization. Join representatives from the Center for Leadership, Student Involvement, and the SGA for important updates.
Intended Audience: Directed to any faculty advisors, but open to all members of Elon University
New Adjunct Faculty Orientation

Important information will be available for new adjunct/part-time faculty about teaching at Elon, including expectations and resources available to you. Returning adjunct/part-time faculty members are invited to share their insights into teaching at Elon as well. Light refreshments will be served.

Tour of Loy Farm

This is a guided tour at Loy Farm and includes the solar farm, responsible design studio and food and farming system operations. Parking is limited so BioBus transportation is provided to and from the site.
Intended Audience: Faculty and staff interested in scheduling a Loy Farm Tour for a class or student group and/or learning about what is happening at Loy Farm.
Inclusive Community Conversations: A Workshop that Explores Issues of Inclusion and Anti-Bias Efforts in Elon's Community

This three-and-a-half hour interactive workshop will work toward developing a shared language around bias awareness, deepening our understanding of the complexity of identities, and practicing responding to incidents of bias. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in personal reflection as well as small and large group discussion. There will also be an overview of resources on Elon's campus to help you navigate learning more about identity and constructively responding to incidents of bias.
Intended Audience: Elon staff and faculty who have not already attended an “Inclusive Community Conversation” or those who would like a refresher conversation.

Meeting of School-and Division-Based Curriculum Committee Chairs

This will be an opportunity for chairs of the various curriculum committees to discuss procedure and any issues that are anticipated for the coming year.
Intended Audience: Chairs for the University and School- and Division-based Curriculum Committees as well as committees performing curricular work that report to the University Curriculum Committee as well as any interested committee members.
Residential Campus Neighborhood Planning
July 25, 2017
Members of the university community working in support of living and learning at Elon - the Residential Campus Initiative - will meet to discuss strategic goals for the 2017-18 academic year. Neighborhood associations will have breakout sessions during the meeting to review neighborhood plans, meet the faculty and residential staff working in the neighborhood, and to share the common calendar for the fall semester.
Intended Audience: Residential neighborhood community directors and faculty directors, linked course faculty, living learning community (LLC) advisors, faculty affiliates, faculty-in-residence, and neighborhood association members.
