The associate professor of psychology and coordinator of African and African-American Studies at Elon gave a talk titled “A Comparative Exploration of Depressive Symptomatology among Black and White Collegiate Women.” 

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 1,900 grants awarded annually in all fields of study. 

The grant will fund a project focusing on the challenges of women of color in science and math educational settings. 

As part of their research study, Frances Ward-Johnson, Alexa Darby and Tammy Cobb found that nearly 90 percent of community organizations considered their respective partnerships with Elon University to be worthwhile and meaningful.

Newspapers in North Carolina and South Carolina recently featured a column by Mat Gendle, professor of psychology, offering a different take on the popular holiday tune, "Do they know it's Christmas?"

Amy Overman, who is associate professor of psychology, faculty member in the neuroscience program and associate director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, shared results of recent memory experiments as well as professional advice at the 57th annual meeting of the Psychonomic Society, which was held Nov. 17-20 in Boston.

Meredith Allison, associate professor of psychology, Erin Martin '16, and collaborator Sandy Jung from MacEwan University presented their research at the annual meeting of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers in Orlando, Florida.

Three Elon faculty members affiliated with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning presented at the 41st annual conference of the POD Network in Higher Education held Nov. 9-13 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mat Gendle, professor of psychology, explored the potential connection in a recent article published in the peer-reviewed journal Medical Hypotheses. 

India Johnson, assistant professor of psychology, received the grant for her project, “I Got Stigma on My Mind: The Impact of Stigma Consciousness, Role Models and Educational Setting on Women of Color in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.”
